Description
“Texas
in the War 1861-1865,” by Brig. Gen. Marcus J Wright, with added material by Col
Harold B. Simpson, 1965, Hill Junior College Press, hardback, 246 pp, signed
and inscribed by Simpson on the half-title page. From CSA Brigadier General
Marcus Wright’s manuscript lost for many years in the Texas State Archives. In
the 1890s, the author sold his typewritten manuscript to Texas Senator Charles
A. Culberson, with the understanding that it was to be published. However it
was never published and in 1912 Senator Culberson deposited the manuscript in
the Texas Archives, where it remained until its publication in 1965. The work
is a long compilation of Texas units and organizations in the Confederate
service. This work was edited and additional notes were added by Col. Harold B.
