    Description

This is a nice, original and complete British WWII felt covered canteen or water bottle. It is made of OD enameled steel, and has a dark OD wool felt cover stitched onto it. There is a cork stopper, attached with a galvanized steel chain. The straps are khaki canvas, they are marked with the manufacturer's name and date, "M.W. & S. 1940."  There may be a British soldier's name and / or service number written in ink on the bottom of the canteen felt, but it is faded and blurred and I cannot make out the letters or numbers (hardly visible). *********** These items are in excellent condition or better, the canteen is very fine with intact wool cover showing no moth bites, holes, or stains, and a complete cork stopper showing a little water staining near bottom. There is a small chip to the enamel on the canteen neck. The canvas carrier is complete with shoulder strap and canvas web carrier. There is some light soiling and some darkening on the inside of the straps but overall in excellent shape. *********** This canteen and P37 carrier has an early war date, and thus could be used for just about any period of British involvement in WWII, including the "sitzkrieg" or "phony war," the invasion of France and Belgium by the Germans, Dunkirk, North African campaign, D-Day invasion of Normandy, and any other time period or location.  A nice, complete, and early WWII example. ****************** Buyer pays exact shipping costs only.
