grover baker sewing machine. Local pickup only
I’m selling a Grover and Baker patent date 1856, in it’s original walnut treadle cabinet. It has many of its original accessories also with the same date. It’s a pretty early model produced by Grover and Baker and I’ve not yet found this particular model of machine. I’ve tried researching it and only have found later models similar but not exactly the same. All moving parts are free and easily to move. It has a transverse bobbin with an original spindle bobbin. The bobbin winder is missing and I’ve searched to find the replacement but no luck as of yet. I has one single drawer to the far left of the machine. I haven’t replaced the treadle leather band yet but I’m sure if I had a threading diagram (also not found one the sane upper mechanisms), only similar but nit exactly the same as this particular model. The model 9 is closer but not this machine and doesn’t thread up the same. I’ve tried, as I’ve had many years of sewing experience and I’ve been collecting for quite some time. I’m sure you’ll find similar ones out there but I do believe this one is a much earlier model than I’ve seen by Grover and Baker.
