Officers Manual Lt. Colonel George Arrowsmith 157th NY Killed Day One Gettysburg. Arrowsmith was killed on the morning of July 1, 1863 leading a charge against Confederate Troops. He was shot in the head and died later that day. He was hastily buried at a Gettysburg field hospital. After the battle, his brother would come to Gettysburg to take his body home to be buried. He also took his belongings which included this small pocket officers manual. It is signed inside by Arrowsmith. The book is in relic condition and the front cover has pulled loose with a few of the first few pages. The manual is complete. An extremely rare one of a kind manual from an officer killed on the Day 1 battlefield at Gettysburg. The manual measures 6.25 inches by 4 inches. Guaranteed to be original as described.
