ORIG 1944-DATED BRITISH ARMY WW2 P37 BASIC AMMO POUCH, CHERBOURG BARN FIND

Description

This is an original named, British Army WWII P37 basic ammo pouch. It is made of a heavy khaki canvas and has a flap that closes with a strap and press-stud fastener. There are steel clips on back to attach to a belt, and a brass buckle at the back top for accommodating a carrying strap. These pouches were designed to hold a variety of ammunition and ordnance, as well as personal items and gear. The inside of the pouch is stamped with "MARK III, BLACKMAN, 44," along with a British War Department Broad Arrow proof mark and another word below "Blackman" that I cannot read. The name of the soldier who was issued this pouch is penned onto the back, this is "DEL COURT."  This pouch was found in a barn near Cherbourg, France. *********** Condition is very good. The pouch is intact and has all straps, snaps, buckles, etc. Everything is in working condition. There is soiling, as you would expect from a wartime-used pouch, and one of the steel belt loops has a bit of rust, but the pouch is in overall very good condition.
