  • Condition: Very good to excellent, lightly used condition. It has some soiling, a few small stains, and light wear, there are a few spots of tarnish and white corrosion on some of the metal parts. The canvas is still fairly crisp and has never been laundered. Color is good. Overall this is a sound, serviceable example of the British WWII Pattern 1937 large haversack. Please see photos.

    Description

    This is an original 1940-dated British Army WWII pattern 1937 (P37) canvas web haversack. The canvas is the original khaki color, it is a light golden brown khaki. It has never been blancoed or modified. All straps are present, they have brass hardware. Stamped inside the top flap is the name and date of the manufacturer, this reads: "M.E. Co. 1940," indicating that the pack was made by the Mills Equipment Company in 1940. There are two British War Department Broad Arrow Proof marks, one beside the date, and one below the manufacturer's name. Some initials are lightly penciled on the underside of the flap, looks to me like "DES." Stamped on the flap is a small number 7 and a couple of letters, ending in "H," these are very faint. There is something faintly stamped on one of the narrow straps, but I cannot make out what it says. The two flaps on the top sides of the pack have brass grommets. ************ The haversack is in very good to excellent, lightly used condition.
