Vintage R Dankin Co Willow Wood Stuffed Afghan Hound Plush Dog Mohair Lifelike

Beautiful and rare R. Dankin & Co. San Francisco, California stuffed Afghan Hound plush animal. Tag states Product of Japan. All New Materials Wood By Product.
In researching this, I have found that Dankin originally placed an order of toy trains that were padded in shipping by these stuffed animals. He fell in love with them and ordered more of the plush and less of the trains he originally sought. They were stuffed with Willow wood sawdust. I have seen some of these advertised as mohair however I can not confirm this. I have LIGHTLY picked through the hair but have left final grooming up to the end collector as I do not want to change the look and feel of it as I have seen other do. I do not have an actual manufacture date but I do know that this predates the "Dream Pets" and pillows by Dankin in the mid 1970's.

All of my items are hand washed (when possible) to remove surface dust and grime, however I do not do a deep clean on them for risk of causing damage to certain finishes and prefer to leave that up to the buyer's level of comfort in that area.
My shipping time is stated as 3 days as a safety net, however I strive for same (before 12pm EST) or next day shipping.
In an effort to reduce cost and waste, I use recycled materials for packing and shipping whenever possible.
